“Stories of Change”
Abu Omar
The Climate-Smart Farmer I'm a passionate agricultural engineer with a vision for sustainable farming.
At a mature stage in my career, I discovered a new frontier in agriculture—industrial potato farming powered by solar energy.
My journey began in Radwaniyah, South Baghdad, where my farm became a demonstration site for a Farmers Field School. Through the support of Al-Aghsan Foundation and ITC, I learned to grow industrial potatoes using subsurface drip irrigation and solar-powered water pumps. The results were astonishing—higher yields, better quality, and reduced costs. Now, I’m scaling up and training others. I believe innovation and leadership can transform agriculture in Iraq.
Um Ahmed
From Displacement to Empowerment I'm a resilient woman who turned tragedy into triumph through farming and community leadership.
